We are passionate about clothes. An odd thing to be passionate about, perhaps, but clothes are more important than you might think. They shape who we are and how we present ourselves to the world. They reflect how we see ourselves, how we want others to see us, the impact we want to have on our environment, and how comfortable we want to feel, both physically and mentally.

Clothes can also be a form of nostalgia — reminders of how our grandparents, parents, or other family members dress, and the ways in which those influences find their way into our own wardrobes. Our wardrobes are works of art, shaped over years by a balance of form, function, memory, and personal expression.
But clothes are also tools. They serve a practical purpose in whatever we choose to do. They provide warmth, protection from the weather, and comfort, while helping us perform at our best. Clothing can be a tool in the boardroom, communicating confidence, authority and professionalism, just as it can be a tool on a grouse moor, where protection from the elements, freedom of movement and practicality matter far more. The purpose may be different, but in both settings the right clothing becomes an essential part of the activity itself.

We created The Heritage Hanger because we love good clothes. We love tailoring and natural fibres. We love pieces that tell a story. We love the finer things in life, and we believe that these things can help define us as individuals.
I have memories of wearing my father’s Hermès ties when I was younger. I remember my father wearing, and still wears, my grandfather’s Grecian house slippers, and my uncle wearing my grandfather’s Gucci loafers. These memories are part of why we believe in buying better clothing — pieces that grow and age with us, create their own history, and can eventually be passed on to family or, through a third party like us, to find a new home and begin a new chapter.

Clothing, accessories, and objects of virtue have a life of their own. They carry memories, stories, craftsmanship, and the marks of those who have owned and enjoyed them. They should be cherished as living things — not simply worn, used, and discarded.
That is the philosophy behind The Heritage Hanger: to celebrate beautiful things, preserve their stories, and give them the opportunity to be loved again.
